Uncompromising on so many levels, this all-electric wagon/crossover lives up to ‘game changer’ hype
PALO ALTO, Calif. — It speaks to the confidence General Motors has in its all-new and all-electric vehicle that it held the press launch here in the backyard of Tesla Motors. Talk about getting up in one’s grille.
After spending an all-too-brief day-and-a-half with the Chevrolet Bolt earlier this week, I can report that that cheeky confidence is not misplaced. Billed as the “world’s first affordable, long-range all-electric vehicle,” the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt is that and so much more. Whereas the plug-in Chevrolet Volt was still very much a work in progress when it came to market in 2011, the Bolt comes to Canadian showrooms fully realized and very well thought out. BC Hydro – Electric Vehicles
Every year there’s more choice and variety in electric vehicles (EVs) available to car buyers. Hand in hand are improvements to range, feature options, and even price.
The Chevrolet Bolt has been forecast as a potential game changer in the EV industry. Many of the EVs being driven in Canada were purchased by early adopters more than willing to overlook price and/or inconvenience just for the chance to drive electric. But the Bolt, with a range that approaches 400 km and a reasonable base price – just under $43,000 before rebates – may be the electric that more of us can seriously consider. Chevrolet dealers in British Columbia are taking orders now for the vehicle, which will be delivered early this year. Click here to read more from BC Hydro
